Grey continued to stare, in horror, at her brother. It seemed that only a few moments ago, they were kittens again, chasing insects in the forest with no reason to ever be afraid. This was not the case.
Ever since Shade had started working under that terror of a cat Schadenfreude, he had changed. He seemed colder now. Heartless, in fact. However, he still looked after her. He protected her and kept her safe from the other cats. He fed her and made sure she stayed hidden, because if Schad found out that one of the rebel cats had survived and was being looked after by one of his own, Shade would be dead.
He did find out, and this is where our story begins.
Schadenfreude had sentenced many other cats under his command to death and Shade was nothing more. He ordered him to be executed immediately. This was not a quick execution, as one may assume. It was gruesome and bloody, and was never easy. Shade would be shown no mercy. During this time, Shade had begun to question Schadenfreude's rule. Because of one cat, he had destroyed entire colonies of cats. The weak were slaughtered, and the strong survivors were taken to join his army, willingly or not.
Eventually, a group of cats known as The Rebels began to form. Living in the shadows, they warned fellow colonies of the news, telling them to move east, where they would be safe for a short while. Grey was a part of these cats, but had been separated from them after being injured in a recent ambush. Presumed dead by Shade (in order to hide her), Schad did not see her as a threat, and ordered Shade to bury her. He hid her in an abandoned burrow further in the woods, where no cat rarely goes.
Shade's dying words had been for his sister. He loved her, and he knew she would have to leave somehow without being caught, a rather hard task since Schad had heard of her being sheltered nearby. However, the words spoken before his last were directed at Schadenfreude. To be known as the words that gave Grey hope, to be reunited with The Rebels and stop the madness of Schad's rule, were also the words that struck a small spark of fear in Schadenfreude's brain that maybe more cats would begin to turn against him.
Sometimes, a small spark can go a long way.
"I will never bow. Not to you."

A quick little summary I wrote explaining the story that goes on inside my head when I think of these characters. I may start writing it someday, but don't expect it soon.
LOL WHAT IS THAT THING CALLED ANATOMY THAT I CAN'T DRAW
Please critique if you can, story or art. I don't care how much you have to tear this apart, I want to improve. xD
Loosely inspired by this: “There’s the scarlet thread of murder running through the colorless skein of life, and our duty is to unravel it, and isolate it, and expose every inch of it.”

story: i really really REALLY love the summary you wrote to go along with this. The Rebellion sounds epic, so if you ever start writing it you'll have to tell me. it kind of reminds me of The Hunger Games for some reason... i know it was inspired by that Sherlock Holmes quote, but i cant help but think of The Hunger Games. i dont know why. it is an original idea though, so ill give you 4.5 stars for origninality.
picture: it looks awesome! i really like how the blood is splattered on the rock it looks amazing! but you said that schad's executions were bloody and gruesome, and i dont see much blood. i understand if you wanted to keep it semiclean but i would expect more after reading your story
keep up the great work! i highly recommend +watching =Detective-Wolf! she wont disappoint you!
